1. iRobot Roomba i3+ EVO
The iRobot Roomba i3+ is an excellent robot vacuum that has many smart features that make it easier to maintain. The automatic bin emptying feature is one of the most convenient features we've seen in the form of a robot and it is compatible with hard floors as well as carpets. The app walks you through the entire process. It is also easy to use and set up. Its ability to restart where it left off in our tests is a great feature. It could do this for 77 minute on one cleaning, and then the battery died.
Contrary to other robovacs we test, the i3+ EVO features self-emptying bins that dump debris into an external dirt compartment on the base of its charging when it's full. The i3+ EVO is able to prevent overfilling by a self-emptying bin. However, it must still be manually empty at the end of each cleaning session. The i3+ EVO dust bin can hold 2.4L that will last for four to five cleaning sessions.
Similar to the i7, this model also uses the latest floor tracking sensors to create maps and navigate neat rows. The i3+ EVO can only store one map, while the i7 is able to store multiple. The i7 can also use its map to create no-go zones as well as virtual barriers, but the i3+ EVO cannot.
The i3+ EVO is more effective of picking up surface debris when compared to other robovacs that we have reviewed, but it is not the best in cleaning corners and edges. It is also less gentle on furniture, despite being fairly quiet. Full Document was a bit rough on furniture as it moved chairs away. It also made some collisions against the sides of the test bed.
2. Black & Decker Pro Q5
Whether you're expanding your collection of robot vacuums, or are just starting out, the Q5 Pro is a great choice. It packs serious power, advanced navigation and easy automation into a sleek and stylish design for a reasonable price. It's the most affordable pound-for-pound model on sale right now and even beats some of Roborock's much pricier models in several ways.
This robot is excellent in cleaning floors that are not clean, and its avoidance tech assists it in staying clear of furniture legs or other obstacles. It also excels on carpets and gets the highest score on our tests of navigation. The only issue is that it's louder than other models and doesn't do as well in our owner-satisfaction and predicted reliability assessments.
The Q5 Pro has a very large dust bin of 770ml which means you won't have to empty it as frequently as other 2-in-1 robots. The Q5 Pro's 240-minute run time is also impressive when contrasted with other 2-in-1 robots we tested. When the battery is low, it will automatically return to its dock where it recharges and then resumes cleaning where it began. You can control the Q5 Pro via the app and make voice commands using Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant.
This is the first robot we've seen that incorporates 3D mapping. This along with other advances, helped it perform exceptionally well in our tests for vacuuming and mopping test. You can plan cleaning schedules, create no-go zones and see the battery's status, among other things. The app is easy to use, though it isn't compatible with Apple HomeKit and that feature is slated to be added in 2025. Apple updated its website's footnote in November of this year to reflect that this feature has been delayed until 2025. HomeKit is not compatible with other robots, however Siri Shortcuts are.
3. TP-Link Tapo RV30 Plus
The Tapo RV30 Plus TP-Link robot vacuum cleaner is an excellent option if you're looking for a vacuum that can mop as well and is affordable. It is stylish in design and a lot of amazing features for the money. You can control it with the buttons on the device, via the app or even with voice commands. The device has an extended battery life and the vacuum container can be automatically empty.
The TP-Link RV30 Plus is a ideal vacuum cleaner for everyday mess. It can also be used to gently mop on hard floors. It comes with a sweeping brush replacement and mopping cloth, as well as a HEPA-filter. It provides excellent obstacle avoidance and navigation.
This model uses an internal dToF LiDAR sensor to create a map of your home, resulting in efficient cleaning routes. The iMop was rated highly for its coverage and navigation. It also did an excellent job avoiding obstacles like furniture. It also has the ability to return to the base station which is a great benefit in the event that it is unable to recharge its battery during a cleaning session.
It also comes with a spot cleaning mode that lets you to clean or mop the specific area of your floor. It can also be programmed to follow a fixed path, which is useful for narrow hallways or stairs. In our carpet cleaning test it did a good job cleaning carpets. However, it was unable to clean rugs and carpets with larger piles. It is also able to automatically lift the mop pad whenever it encounters carpet, which is a great feature if you want to avoid mopping your carpets.
The iMop includes an onboard dustbin as well as a water tank, which it is empty at the conclusion of each cleaning session.
